Emerson Salazar (1983, San Felipe, Chile) is one of the most brilliant classical guitar players of his generation. First prize winner at the XXXV Andrés Segovia Guitar Competition in 2010 and Luis Sigall Music Competition in 2012, he has delighted audiences in Europe and America through his solid technique and musicality.
In June 2013 he premiered John McLaughlin´s second guitar concerto “Europa” with the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, and Doron Salomon as conductor.
Emerson Salazar began his career as young musician in Chile, where he gave his first guitar recitals and started to appear regularly on radio and television programs. Later, this virtuoso participated in numerous premieres of solo guitar works and played with various orchestras in Chile. Much of this work was carried out for free, with the purpose of bringing the guitar to all social circles. During this period, Emerson Salazar completed a bachelor degree in Music at the Pontifical Catholic University, Valparaíso, under the tutelage of professor Guillermo Nur. In 2007 he was granted a scholarship by the Government of Chile to pursue a Master degree at Mozarteum University Salzburg, Austria, where he studied with the guitarists Eliot Fisk and Ricardo Gallén. In 2010, he received the Master degree with summa cum laude.
Since 2007, Emerson has kept an intense artistic activity with performances in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria and awards in different competitions such as Miguel Llobet 2016 guitar competition in Barcelona and Josefina Robledo Competition 2009 in Valencia. Emerson Salazar currently lives in Munich, Germany, a city full of culture and art, where he found a suitable environment to pursue his artistic work.
